Inside Take Note Colorado
Take Note Colorado (TNC) is a statewide initiative that builds access to music education opportunities for all youth across Colorado. Our vision is to build partnerships and connect communities to resources that ensure every young person has meaningful access to inclusive, student-centered, culturally relevant music education. We believe music is a transformative tool that fosters self-expression, confidence, social connection, mental wellness, improves academic achievement, and builds workforce and leadership skills that can empower young people to thrive and have long term impact in communities.
Background
TNC was originally launched in 2017 as a 10-year initiative under the leadership of Senator John Hickenlooper (fmr. Colorado Governor) and Isaac Slade (fmr. The Fray), Libby Anschutz and Bohemian Foundation, in partnership with all who share the belief that we can all play a role in bringing music into the lives of all young people. In 2021, The Lumineers’ Wesley Schultz joined as the Artist Ambassador of the Take Note Colorado.
TNC, is led by its board of directors and has brought together musicians, teachers, school districts, philanthropists, government, music industry representatives, the non- and for-profit sector, and communities to promote more equitable and ongoing music education for youth throughout the state of Colorado.
